“SIVAC VILLAGE IN 4 ROWS FROM A DISTANCE IT LOOKS LIKE A TOWN”
This picturesque traditional song which has been sang from old days,tells us that this is a great place.And indeed Sivac is one of the largest villages with over 10 000 inhabitants,situated between “sweet Crvenka” and bohemian Sombor,densely planted on the slopes of plateau Telecka.Besides wonderful people,mainly agricultural oriented,Sivac has three churches and community center which,like a lighthouse,attracts many lovers of song,dance,acting and music.
Folk dance ensemble lasts for half a century, and its performances and successes,as a string of pearls,are graded to the present day.From kid’s group to the traditional group,male and female singing groups,solist,instrumentalist,to orchestra with traditional instruments bagpipes,flutes,tapan…All together along the only way of keeping the traditions and customs of the Serbian people.
About success of children’s and youth ensamble testify numerous diplomas from provincial and national competitions that give us the right to say: “We are always among the best”.
Every 6th july,for many years,we gather around “St.John’s flowers”,the festival that has become heir of the Serbs,natives from Vojvodina.People from Srem,Banat and Backa are showing what has been saved from oblivion and everything has been noted,photographed and recorded,and our Vojvodina garden is becoming bigger and more colorful.
In 1985.we received the highest award of the Republic Serbia in the field of culture-Vuk Karadzic award. Even today, it binds and encourages.
